About MeI am an Assistant Professor in the School of Government and Public Policy. In my research, I examine the causes and effects of non-state conflict, including the evolution and escalation of nonviolent protest movements, the causes of terrorism, and dynamics of civil wars. I am particularly interested in civilian agency in conflict, examining the outcomes of nonviolent campaigns and civilians' use of collective action in civil war contexts shape and influence these events. I received my PhD from the University of Arizona in 2012.
